Paul said the encounter at the hands of the bandits was a very sad one that he didn’t want to remember in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, shortly after he was handed over to his parents.

They were also served ‘Talge’ (a blended watery guinea corn) twice, according to the 200-Level Agricultural Technology student.

“This delicacy was served to the 38 of us,” he said (Talge). We simply ate to keep our stomachs full. It has no flavour and is painful to swallow. You can imagine how the 38 of us would eat in a bowl,” he said emphatically.

He went on to say that the bandits were moving the 38 of them from one forest to another during their time in the jungle. He said that despite the fact that none of the students were harmed by the bandits, they slept on the field.

“We simply cut leaves and spread them out like mats on the ground. We slept on the ground in this manner. That was how both of us (males and females) were sleeping.”

He, on the other hand, said that he plans to complete his studies, stating, “I want to go back to school and finish my programme.” “I will not give up.”

“One morning, they (bandits) came to us and started selecting us and told us that the five of us would regain our freedom,” Paul said of how the five of them were released.
