559 Former Members Of Boko Haram Complete Deradicalisation Programme“
The Federal Government’s de-radicalization, rehabilitation, and re-integration (DRR) programme has graduated 559 repentant Boko Haram Terrorists.
The Federal Government launched the DRR programme in 2015 to deradicalize and reintegrate ex-Boko Haram Terrorist fighters into society.

During the event, which took place on Sunday in Gombe State, the repentant members swore an oath of allegiance to the Federal Government.
Over 1,000 ex-Boko Haram fighters have graduated from the programme and reintegrated into society, according to Joseph Maina, the coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor.
He said the repentant fighters had successfully completed a series of medical screenings, psychological and psycho-spiritual counselling, sports therapy, drug abuse counselling, western education, and vocational training as part of the program’s rebuilding activities.
“Since September 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari has been promoting Operation Safe Corridor, which encourages willing and repentant Boko Haram members to surrender and participate in well-structured rehabilitation, deradicalization, and reintegration programmes,” he said.

“Since the DRR camp opened its doors, a total of 1,070 ex-combatants have completed the programme and been reintegrated into society.”
“An additional 559 students will complete the programme and be reintegrated into their communities.”
Maj. Gen. Adeyemi Yekini, who spoke on behalf of Chief of Defence Staff Lucky Irabor, asked the repentant Boko Haram members to appreciate and reciprocate the trust placed in them as “worthy beneficiaries of our DDR programme.”
“As you prepare to turn to your communities for the next stage of your integration, I urge you to be prepared for the challenges ahead.”
