A suspected Biafran National Guard gunman was killed by Nigerian troops conducting Exercise Golden Dawn in Abia state on Thursday, October 28.

The deceased was among a group of gunmen who attacked troops’ location at Amaekpu in the Ohafia Local Area of Abia State on Thursday, October 28, 2021, according to a statement released by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations.

Videos circulated online show armed men claiming to be Biafran National Guards stating that they are ready for war and on their way to free Biafran prisoners of war.

The voice of a man filming could be heard saying in one of the videos,


“Biafra’s liberation has only just begun.” Today is the second day of our wonderful week. You can see that Biafran National Guards are already on the ground and on their way to rescue the political prisoners – Mrs Onyekachi Orji and the others.

As you can see, the Biafran National Guards are all on high alert. They appear to be prepared for war, and the liberation of Biafra has only just begun.”

The man behind the camera then approached a man in one of the vehicles and identified him as General Innocent Orji, the Commander.

Gen Innocent Orji is the commander. “Sir, could you tell us what’s going on here?” he inquired of the commander.


Orji responded, ”


“We want to tell them that an election in Anambra will never take place.” We are going to declare Biafra Nation’s sovereignty.”


The man behind the camera, who remained unidentified, continued.

“This is our armed forces. Biafran National Guards are in various vehicles, ready to go and free the nearly 15-year-old political prisoners of conscience. They’re filling up their vehicles, as you can see.” The redeclaration of Biafra sovereignty will take place on Saturday, October 30th.”
