Wanted Rivers state accountant-general for N435 billion fraud wins PDP guber primaries
Siminialayi Fubara, the state’s immediate past Accountant-General, who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for an N435 billion fraud, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2023 General Election.
Fubara, widely regarded as Wike’s preferred candidate, won the primary held Wednesday night at the Obi Wale Cultural Center in Port Harcourt.
After a series of talks and conferences headed by Governor Nyesom Wike failed to produce a consensus, a total of 16 contenders ran in the election.
Siminialayi received 721 votes out of 890 total votes cast, making her the ultimate winner. Prof. Walter Mboto, the chairman of the electoral committee, led three others in announcing the election results.
