The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organisation responsible for the conduct of various examinations in the English-speaking West African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified staff to fill the under-mentioned vacant positions at its National Office in Nigeria.

POSITIONS:

1. HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties among others:

Assist in the formulation and implementation of Human Resource policies and programmes.
Assist in the handling of staff development and management issues.
Co-ordinate Human Resource matters relating to employees’ records.
Co-ordinate staff performance management processes.
Preparation of Human Resource Management reports.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Qualification & Experience

Applicants must

Hold a good First Degree with at least Second Class Lower Division from a recognised University;
Possess a minimum of Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), or a Senior HR Certificates from either the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI);
Have Credit Passes in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE “O” Level or equivalent of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting or
Have Credit in six subjects including English Language and Mathematics at two sittings;
Have at least three (3) years relevant post professional qualification work experience

(b) Key Competencies

  • Strong background knowledge in all key Human Resource Management and Development domains.
  • Indepth organisational skills in implementing Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • Appreciable understanding of ICT and proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite.
  • Considerable interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Self motivated and able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Good report writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • High integrity, confidentiality and reliability.

2. ACCOUNTANTS (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II)

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be assigned duties in the Finance Division and will be required to assist in:

The implementation of the Finance Division policies and programmes;
The general accounting work of the Council’s examinations;
Preparing the general ledger and the draft final accounts;
Preparing of the various books and bank reconciliations;
Budget preparation and tracking;
Preparing reports for the Council’s Meetings;
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

(2) ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Qualification & Experience

Applicant must possess:

A Bachelor degree of not less than a Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.
Must be Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Credit passes in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE “O” Level or equivalent of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting or
Credit in six subjects including English Language and Mathematics at two sittings.
Applicant must have at least three years post qualification work experience.

(b) Desirable Attributes/Competencies/Skills

Eligible applicant must;

  • demonstrate high degree of integrity, confidentiality and reliability;
  • possess leadership ability;
  • have high proficiency in computer applications (e.g. Quick Book, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Internet skills);
  • be self-motivated, can write good reports and analyse reports;
  • be task/result-oriented;
  • be very meticulous in executing assigned tasks;
  • be prepared and willing to work extra and odd hours;
  • be willing to work under pressure to meet targets;
  • have good interpersonal skills, be a team player;
  • able to work with little or no supervision and have good writing, analytical and communication skills.

3. INTERNAL AUDITORS (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II)

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be assigned duties in the Audit Department and will be required to assist in:

The implementation of the Internal Audit Department policies and programmes;
The general auditing work of the Council’s financial transactions;
Reviewing the general ledger and the draft final accounts;
Reviewing of the various books and bank reconciliations;
Monitoring of budget performance and budget control
Budget preparation and tracking;
Preparing timely audit reports for Management consideration;
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Qualification & Experience

Applicant must possess:

A Bachelor degree of not less than a Second Class Lower Division from a recognised University.
Must be Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and ACA.

  1. Now that the application date has passed can able to apply, because i have tried but it requires a cord number from me which makes me to restricted from being applying, since the time I saw the advert.
