The incident, captured in a now-viral video obtained by Ejes Gist News, shows the horrifying moment when the police van rammed into the officer. The video footage reveals the lifeless body of the officer in the aftermath, highlighting a grave error in judgment by the police.
It was gathered that the police officer driving the van believed the victim was a protester amidst ongoing demonstrations in the region. An X user with the handle @PureStanley1 commented on the incident, stating, “If being reckless, untrained and uncertified was an organization, then that organization would be the Nigerian police force.🤮”
