scored a brace to help Napoli come back from a goal down to beat Udinese 2-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

After a neat through pass by Roberto Pereyra, Udinese took a shock lead after 22 minutes. Gerard Deulofeu found the bottom left corner of the net with a fantastic effort from the edge of the area.

At halftime, Luciano Spalletti shuffled the pack, bringing on Dries Mertens and switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation. It paid off, as his side were level within ten minutes of the restart, thanks to Osimhen, who headed in at the back post following a free-kick routine.

After a low cross from the byline by an overlapping Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Osimhen scored an easy tap-in from inside the area to complete the turnaround in just ten minutes.

The result puts Napoli level on points with AC Milan at the top of Serie A, despite the fact that they have played one game more than their title rivals.

TALKING POINT – NAPOLI TURN IT ON IN THE SECOND HALF

Finding themselves 1-0 down at the break proved to be the catalyst that Napoli needed to spark into life, as they played like a different team early on in the second half of the game.

Spalletti’s switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation, which created more overloads in Udinese’s third of the pitch, was undoubtedly a factor. The wings provided a lot of attacking impetus, with Insigne cutting inside from the left and Di Lorenzo providing an overlap option down the right side. That strategy paid off, as the full-back chipped in with an assist.

The visitors were unable to get out of their half for large portions of the second half due to the urgency of Napoli’s play.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH – VICTOR OSIMHEN

The Nigerian striker was the match winner for his team, as his 11-minute brace early in the second half turned the game around in dramatic fashion for Napoli.

The clinical nature of his finishing was a sight to behold, and the Udinese defence must have been terrified whenever he entered their penalty area.

With his two goals, the 23-year-old now has four in his last two games, and Spalletti will be hoping that one of his key players can continue to deliver as Napoli fight for the title.
