Shocking As UNN Graduate Puts Up BSc, NYSC Certificates For Sale Over Unemployment

A graduate of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has showcase his Degree and NYSC discharge Certificate for sale over inability to secure a job.

Ochie Godwin Joseph, a graduated from the department of political science with a Second Class Upper (2:1) threatened to burn his academic Certificates if no one is interested in buying the certificates

The high rate of unemployment in Nigeria is becoming worrisome. According to National Bureau of Statistics NBS,   Nigeria’s unemployment rate as at the second quarter of 2020 (May to June) is 27.1% showing that about 21.7 million Nigerians are unemployment.

Also, the Nigeria’s underemployment rate is 28.6%, when combine with unemployment rate gives 55.7% showing that about 55 million Nigerians are unemployed or underemployed.

The major cause of unemployment in Nigeria are; neglect of agricultural sector, rural-urban migration, wrong impression about vocational education, corruption, rapid population growth, etc.

Imagine what could have made a graduate of one of the best universities in Nigeria, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to put up his certificate for sale! The guy must have searched for a job in every nook and cranny of the country without success

Ochie had graduated from the department of Political Science, UNN with a Second Class (Upper Division) in 2010. He completed the one year mandatory National service (NYSC) service in 2012, and was one of the beneficiary of the N-Power scheme that exited in August 2020.

In one of his posts, the frustrated UNN graduate said;

“The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs under the affairs of HM Sadia Farouq has banned volunteers (from the N-Power scheme) from remarking or answering on their timeline. Volunteers can not remark anymore or answer to the Ministries tweets. Thus. And afterward.”
