UniAbuja Vice-Chancellor dismisses two professors for sexual harassment

Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na-Allah, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, has stated that two professors have been dismissed for sexual harassment.

Monday, June 6, in New York, the university’s vice chancellor told the Newsmen that a policy on sexual misconduct on campus had been issued.

Mr. Na-Allah, who was on a two-day visit to the United States to meet with the University of Abuja Alumni Association, USA branch, in order to seek support for the institution, stated that “female students must be protected.”

According to him, the institution is devoted to upholding high moral standards and will not accept any misbehaviour committed against students by its staff.

“Since I became vice-chancellor, I have terminated two Professors.

It demonstrates how seriously we take the issue of sexual harassment “vice-chancellor remarked.

“We are engaging with a number of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to ensure that we are not the only ones addressing this issue and that we have a solid collaboration.

“We cannot allow our kids’ lives to be damaged, as the majority of abuses endanger the lives of their victims.

It was unfortunate to see certain professors, who were tasked with protecting female students, become one of their difficulties.

This is a concern for universities throughout Nigeria, not just the University of Abuja.

Several investigations are also being conducted by a committee formed to handle the issue “he added.
