For many Nigerians looking to relocate abroad, the United Kingdom is a top choice.

The new visa policy, which is set to go into effect on May 30, requires prospective applicants to have graduated from one of the top 50 schools in a reputable global university ranking.

The “High Potential Individual” visa route, according to UK Minister of Safe and Legal Migration Kevin Foster, is aimed at attracting high-skilled foreign university graduates who will be allowed to work and stay in the UK for two or three years.

The list, according to the government, will be compiled annually and will include institutions that are among the “top 50 universities in at least two of the following ranking systems.”
