Two factors that will hinder Buhari’s Impeachment – Senator Ogunlewe opens up
The move by certain members of the National Assembly to remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office will be hampered by religious and ethnic prejudices, according to Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ogunlewe stated in an interview with Newsmen that no matter how much the Senate minority caucus tries to unseat President Buhari, if the northern interest opposes it, it won’t happen.
“Impeachment and northern interest are a completely different kettle of fish. Because they are in the majority, they will conduct meetings at night and prevail against you, he warned.
A majority of House of Representatives members and more than 80 senators from all political parties have committed to impeaching President Buhari if the country’s escalating insecurity lasts longer than six weeks.
The presidency, however, reacted to the actions and told the senators to cease pandering to the public like their American counterparts because otherwise, staging a walkout would be “performative and babyish.”
The federal administration has stated that it is now working around the clock to stabilize the security situation in the nation.
