Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has  Resigned After 16 Years in Office 

, a co-founder of Twitter, has resigned as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after 16 years at the helm and has been replaced by Parag Agrawal, the company’s chief technology officer (CTO).

Dorsey will resign from Twitter’s board of directors immediately but will remain on the board until the company’s stockholder meeting in 2022, according to the company’s Spokesperson.


Jack Dorsey Resigns?

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders,” Dorsey said in a statement.

I have a lot of faith in Parag as Twitter’s CEO. His work has had a profound impact over the last ten years.

“I’m in awe of his talent, heart, and soul.” “It’s his turn to lead,” Dorsey said.

Agrawal has been with Twitter for ten years and has been the company’s chief technology officer since 2017.

“I want to express my gratitude to the board for their faith in my leadership and to Jack for his continued mentorship, support, and partnership,” Agrawal said.

“I love Twitter,” Dorsey wrote in his most recent tweet on the site, which he posted on Sunday.

Dorsey told employees in an email on Monday that it was time for him to leave after 16 years at the company.

He wrote, “In the end, I believe that’s severely limiting and a single point of failure.”

“I’ve put in a lot of effort to ensure that this company can break free from its founders.”

Dorsey stated that Agrawal was his top choice for CEO. “I have complete faith in him as CEO,” he wrote. “I want you to know that this was my decision, and I take full responsibility for it.”

“Just setting up my Twitter,” said Dorsey, 45, who co-founded the microblogging site in 2006 and posted the world’s first tweet.

After being pushed out of the top job at Twitter, he co-founded Square in 2009 before returning as the social media company’s CEO in 2015. (From The Guardian in the United Kingdom)

Recall the Nigerian government shut down Twitter’s operations in the country in June, claiming it was endangering the Country’s existence.

President Muhammadu Buhari had previously posted a message about south-easterners on Twitter, which many Nigerians found offensive and deleted by Twitter.

However, Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for the Niger Delta, said on Sunday Channels TV that Twitter had agreed to meet all of the conditions imposed by the Nigerian government as a condition for lifting the ban.
