Trump banned from ever rejoining Screen Actors Guild

Former US President has been forbidden from ever joining the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists’ Screen Actors Guild.

This came after a disciplinary hearing against Trump, held on Saturday 6 February, was approved by SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and the national board. This resulted in Trump being barred from joining the union due to the way he treated SAG-AFTRA members during his presidency and “his antagonism with the journalistic members of the union and disregard for the union’s values and integrity.”

The penalty requested was expulsion from the union, which represents more than 160,000 actors, writers, singers, journalists, and other media professionals. But Trump resigned the day before the scheduled Feb. 5 hearing to review evidence on the charges.

Trump will not be able to make any legitimate TV or film appearances in the future with the new ban, at least none that are sanctioned by SAG. He will also not enjoy SAG benefits such as voting on the union’s employment and structure or other unique privileges during the award season or more, such as film screeners.
