Tragic ! Man Poisons Self as He Slaughters Mother-In-Law in warri


There was pandemonium few hours into New Year Day 2020 in Arubaye area of Warri, Delta State, when a father who was searching for the wife to kill butchered his mother-in-law owing to domestic quarrel.

Wife of the suspect whose identity could not also be ascertained was said to have taken to her heels on seeing the husband armed with a cutlass.

According to DAILY INDEPENDENT the suspect who was reported to be having issues with his wife, stormed the mother-in-law’s residence apparently to make a report when he committed the crime.

It was gathered that the deceased killer who met the absence of his wife descended on the mother-in-law by inflicting machete cuts on her and ensured that she died before fleeing from the scene of the incident.

Our source disclosed that hours after he killed the mother-in-law, he allegedly drank some poisonous substance and died apparently to avert prosecution.
The deceased mother-in-law whose identity was not also ascertained as at the time of filing this report was said not to be in support of the marriage between her daughter and her killer.

A witness said, “The wife ran away when she sighted the man coming to their house armed with a machete but her mother could not escape because she had injury on one of her legs. The man cut the poor woman to pieces.”

“The neighbours all ran away. They said they were scared to confront a man with machete but the man later took poison and died this morning near Island Clinic. He wore a green native and canvass. But the body has been removed.”
Several police sources at the ‘B’ Division at Okumagba Avenue in Warri confirmed the incident saying the two corpses had been evacuated by the police.

One of the senior police officers at the station said both corpses have been deposited at the Central Hospital, Warri morgue.

When contacted, the outgoing Delta State Commissioner of Police, Adeyinka Adeleke, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

“It is true but the man has also killed himself. We are investigating the incident,” he said.
