Family of 10 Dead after Consuming Suspected Herbal Concoction  

In Kwara State, ten members of the same family have been proven deceased after swallowing a purported herbal mixture.

The deceased were Fulanis from the Biogberu Fulani camp in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government Area.

Mrs Pennia Bonnie, 40, had a foot illness, and the herbal potion was supposedly created by Okosi Musa and Worugura Junlin for her.

Musa and Junlin, on the other hand, were claimed to have advised the combination to family members to prevent the disease from spreading.

The incident occurred on the 16th of this month, according to reports.

In addition, five people have been reported dead and 25 vehicles have been destroyed in a Lagos tanker fire.
Ajayi Okasanmi, a spokesperson for the state police command, verified the occurrence.

“On Monday this week, one Ibrahim Bonnie, 22 years old, of Fulani camp Biogberu, via Gwanara, reported to the police station that the suspects came to his mother, Pennie Bonni, of the same Fulani camp, with a local herbal mixture purported to be the cure for her ailment, with a local herbal mixture purported to be the cure for her ailment,” Okasanmi said.

“She was also urged to make sure that everyone in her family took the cocktail to prevent the disease from spreading.

“After consuming the native herbal concoction, one by one, the family members began to die. At the time of the last count, ten members of the family had died, including the diseased mother.”

He claimed the command had started a quiet investigation into the event, and that “the two suspects are already cooperating with the police in their probe.”

To avoid ugly situations like this, he urged “ill members of the public to seek medical solutions in recognised medical homes in the state.”

“After the investigation, the suspects will have their day in court,” Okasanmi stated.
