1. EFCC Grills Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso 

.Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, was grilled by an EFCC team at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja yesterday over allegations of abuse of office, diversion of public funds, and fraudulent allocation of property to cronies. The EFCC first invited Kwankwaso, who is also a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, in September, but he did not show up.

4. In Oyo, the APC suspends the State Congress. 

The ongoing State Congress in Oyo State has been suspended by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to a decision by the party’s national leadership.

According to reports, the order was issued by Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe State and Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, who was present.

The National Economic Council has issued a warning against protests on the 20th anniversary of the outbreak of SARS by disgruntled Nigerian citizens on October 20th.

Because of the possibility that the protest will be hijacked by hoodlums again, the council has advised those interested in participating in the protest to seek out other lawful avenues through which to express their grievances and to postpone the planned anniversary celebration.

The National Economic Council (NEC) expressed concern that staging another protest would exacerbate the current security situation in the country, citing various actions and inactions already taken by the federal and state governments in response to the gruesome killings of citizens and harassments that prompted the 2020 protests.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Police Service Commission (PSC) have resumed the process of admitting 10,000 constables into the force, which was suspended earlier this month.

According to reports, the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, confirmed the development to newsmen in a statement released on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer.

9. ‘Plans have been finalised for the transfer of the presidency to Atiku Abubakar’ – Ekpa.

Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed disciple of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has claimed that plans have been finalised for the transfer of power to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar from the current administration.

Since the arrest and detention of the IPOB leader, Ekpa, who has been in the news frequently, has stated that the plan will be implemented in February 2022.

On February 16, 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari defeated Atiku Abubakar, who was running as the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections.

 

10.  On Saturday, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State stated that no single group of people, regardless of religious affiliation or tribe, can claim leadership of Nigeria. Tambuwal remarked while receiving CAN’s National President, Rev. Ayokunle Samson Olasupo, at Government House in Sokoto’s Council Chamber.

When operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) clashed with suspected smugglers in the Kobape area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, two people were confirmed dead and two others were injured on Saturday. The suspected smugglers were said to be the two victims, while two Customs officers were injured in the gunfire.

  2. On Saturday, hoodlums stormed the venue of the ongoing state congress of the All Progressives Congress at the palace of Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Alake of Egbaland (APC). A faction of the APC in the state held its congress at the event centre within the palace in Abeokuta, the state capital.

  3. The Sani Abacha Youth Centre, the proposed venue for a parallel APC congress in Kano State, was sealed off by Department of State Service (DSS) operatives yesterday. The security agents claimed they were given orders to take control of the area and prevent any gatherings.

  4. The elective congress of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been cancelled. The congress was scheduled to take place today, at a time when the tensions of the previous few weeks had reached a breaking point. Engr. Benson Abounu, Chairman of the State Congress Electoral Committee, announced the suspension.

  5. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar believes Nigerians will elect the Peoples Democratic Party to power in the 2023 presidential election. Atiku said democracy could only triumph in a free and fair environment, urging politicians to follow the PDP’s electoral guidelines and the country’s constitution during elections.

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has dismissed parallel All Progressives Congress congresses allegedly held by some elements as “mere naming ceremonies.” Gboyega Akosile, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, revealed this in a statement released after the APC’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, was elected.

In a statement released on Saturday in Ilorin, the NSCDC spokesman, Babawale Afolabi, said the suspect cut Abubakar Sulade’s hand during a confrontation over grazing land in the Kaiama Local Government Area of the State.
