On Monday, October 25, 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Nigeria for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This was revealed in a statement signed by Buhari’s Media Assistant, Garba Shehu, on Sunday, according to reports.

Buhari is expected to speak at the Future Investment Initiative Institute’s annual investment conference.

Business executives from Nigeria, bankers, captains of industry, and energy experts will join the President at the 5th edition of the flagship investment event to discuss issues concerning the future of investments around the world.

The three-day event, titled INVESTMENT IN HUMANITY, will feature discussions on progress and prosperity in the energy sector, true final frontiers in investments, science in action, and the impact of climate change on communities, among other topics.

Before returning to Nigeria on Friday, President Buhari will perform the lesser Hajj in Madina and Makka.

Value Added Tax (VAT): Gov. Wike Says Rivers Aren’t Fighting FG, But Reveals What They Want.

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has stated that insinuations in some quarters that the state is fighting the federal government are false.

Wike spoke against the backdrop of the current standoff between the federal and state governments over VAT collection in Rivers (VAT).

Wike, who was represented by Rivers State Attorney-General, Mr Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN), said they want to achieve fiscal federalism and fiscal autonomy while speaking on Sunday in Abuja at an event to mark the 60th birthday of Mr Ahmed Raji (SAN).

In his speech on “Taxing Powers in a Federal System,” he stated that the state and federal governments are co-equals because they both derive their powers from the constitution.


The Governor went on to say that what they’re asking for is well within the law’s provisions, and that he hopes the courts will do justice to the situation. The issue of recalls has already reached the Supreme Court.

Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), was questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Sunday.

Anyim was invited by the anti-graft agency following an investigation into alleged corruption and diversion of public funds, according to a senior official of the commission who spoke with Daily Trust about the development.

According to reports, the former SGF was questioned by commission operatives after arriving at the commission’s headquarters around 3 p.m.

Anyim is being questioned in connection with a case involving Senator Stella Oduah, a former Aviation Minister who is currently serving in the Senate.

Makinde Orders DG, to Install CCTV in All Correctional facilities

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has ordered that Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras be installed in all the correctional facilities in the state.

Makinde gave the order on Sunday when he visited the Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo, that was attacked on Friday night by unknown gunmen, where majority of the inmates escaped.

Gunmen attack the Ebonyi Police Station, seriously injuring an officer.

The Nigeria Police Force’s Ebonyi State Command has issued a statement regarding an attack on one of its facilities by unknown gunmen.

In a statement issued in Abakaliki on Sunday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah, confirmed the early morning attack, saying gunmen attacked Unwana police divisional headquarters in the state’s Afikpo North Local Government Area.

The unknown gunmen, numbering around 35, struck around 3 a.m. on Sunday, but were repelled by gallant officers, according to the Police PRO.

Odah continued, “During the attack, one of the invading gunmen was killed, others escaped with bullet wounds, and the police recovered two AK-47 rifles from the hoodlums.”

Despite earlier reports (from a resident who requested anonymity) that three police officers were killed in the attack, the Ebonyi Police Command did not mention the death of any police operative in its statement.


However, according to the police statement, one police inspector was seriously injured during the gunfight. The operational vehicles are also unharmed, according to the report.

State Assembly Speakers Tell Buhari, It’s Time To Declare Bandits Terrorists.

All 36 Speakers of the State Houses of Assembly have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare bandits terrorists as soon as possible.

The Speakers made the call at the end of their meeting in Katsina State on Sunday, noting that the bandits are enemies of the nation.

While speaking on the five-point communiqué issued at the end of their meeting, the Chairman of the Conference, who is also the Bauchi Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, expressed the sentiments of his colleagues.

IPOB’s Sit-At-Home Order Over Nnamdi Kanu Is Nonsensical and Absurd: Ohanaeze Rejects It.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, has rejected the Indigenous People of Biafra’s planned sit-at-home order (IPOB).

In its response, Ohanaeze not only denounced the sit-at-home order, but also called it a “nonsense, absurd, and anti-Igbo agenda, for the enemy’s amusement.”

recollects On Saturday, IPOB threatened to shut down the Southeast if the federal government did not unconditionally release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by November 4.

IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, said in a statement released on Saturday that the new lockdown will be enforced between November 5 and 10, except on Sunday, November 7, to allow for Church services.

FG Reacts To Attack On Oyo Prison Facility: ‘Fleeing Inmates Will Be Recaptured.’

The Federal Government has reacted to unknown gunmen storming the Abolongo Correctional Centre in Oyo town.


According to reports, 837 awaiting trial inmates escaped from the facility after attackers stormed the facility around 10 p.m. on Friday night, armed with weapons and grenades.

However, the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) in Oyo State reported that 262 escaped inmates had been apprehended, while 575 remained on the loose.

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, promised that all fleeing inmates would be pursued and recaptured during an inspection visit to the facility on Sunday.

The minister assured the fleeing inmates that if they return to the facility willingly, they will not be prosecuted for unlawful escape.

Aregebsola also stated that he has directed the NCoS to begin rebuilding the damaged area of the facility as soon as possible.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) will investigate the Buhari administration. and Northern states over the kidnapping of students and the closure of schools.
