Real reason Tinubu picked Shettima – APC Chieftain, Adebayo Shittu
Adebayo Shittu, a former minister of communications, claims that Senator Kashim Shettima was chosen as Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2023 presidential election because the former governor of Borno State “maintained orderliness in a zone nearly occupied by Boko Haram insurgents.”
In an interview with newsmen, Shittu, an APC leader in Oyo State and the Director General (DG) of the Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance, made this claim.
He vowed that the APC would defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, even in his hometown Adamawa.
“No candidate will want to take unnecessary chances during an election. Keep in mind that our vice presidential candidate, Shettima, managed to maintain law and order for eight years in an area that was almost completely overrun by Boko Haram and ISWAP Terrorist.
The former Oyo State governorship candidate responded when asked if that explains why Tinubu chose him, he stated “Was that not a good enough reason to look for someone who can be trusted to run good governance?
We thank God that we have someone who delivers because we want to win votes. A minority would not have been the logical choice.
It is the presidential candidate’s prerogative to select his running mate because it is about who can deliver the votes. Religion is not a factor.
“We’re getting ready for the election. The presidential candidate has the right to select those individuals whose votes will help him win the election.
By God’s grace, we will defeat Atiku even in his home state of Adamawa.
