Magnus Abe Emerges SDP Governorship Candidate In Rivers
Senator Magnus Abe, a former leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, has emerged as the Social Democratic Party’s candidate for governor (SDP).
At a replacement primary held by the party on Saturday in Port Harcourt under the supervision of an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Emmanuel Isong, Abe, a senatorial candidate for the SDP from the Rivers South-East Senatorial District and a fierce rival of the former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, emerged as the winner.

According to Muhammed Ibrahim, the chairman of the replacement electoral committee for the SDP governorship primary in Rivers State, Abe received all 30 legitimate votes voted in the contest to win.
At the primaries, Patricia Ogbonnaya, Abe’s potential running mate, was there.
Senator Abe announced his departure from the party on Wednesday after failing to receive the APC’s governorship nomination in Rivers.

His spokesperson, Parry Benson, said on Friday that the former federal legislator has joined the SDP.
Senator Abe and Rotimi Amaechi, the former minister of transportation, have been at odds over the direction of the APC in Rivers State for a very long time.
