PDP Governors, Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde, Okezie Ikpeazu have sealed their deals with APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vows to Deliver their states to APC in 2023
In lieu of the 2023 General Elections, Ejes Gist Newspaper can report with authority that Governors Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde, and Okezie Ikpeazu of the states of Rivers, Oyo, and Abia, respectively, have decided to endorse Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 presidential election.
In exchange, Tinubu will force the three APC governorship candidates to abandon their campaigns in favour of those of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
After Tinubu is sworn in as president, ministerial portfolios would be awarded to the APC governorship candidates as part of the agreement.
There is “nothing anybody can do to change that,” key APC allies told Ejes Gist Newspaper, adding that Tinubu and Wike had already clinched their political bargain.
One of Tinubu’s associates claimed that the APC presidential contender was pleased with Wike for abiding by the agreement’s conditions. He quickly added that Rotimi Amaechi, the previous minister of transportation, had been left “in the cold” as a result of the arrangement.
He cited the agreement with Tinubu as the cause of the governors Wike, Ikpeazu, and Makinde’s “intransigence” against any peace initiatives put forth by the PDP.
“Even a new-born baby knows that it is not practical to ask Ayu to leave at this time,” the APC chairman remarked.
Despite knowing this, Wike, Makinde, and Ikpeazu continue to advocate for Ayu’s expulsion. You can count on them to maintain the pressure up until the general elections. The Tinubu I know will not let them down.
Wike and Makinde have been urging the PDP to dismiss Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as national chairperson on the grounds that the party’s nominee for president and the head of her board of trustees cannot all be from the same region of Nigeria.
Senator Walid Jubrin, the chairman of the PDP trustees, announced his resignation a few days earlier. Adolphus Wabara, an Abia native, was named as his replacement. The Wike group did not seem impressed even after that.
At the weekend, Governor Makinde criticized his party, the PDP, in public for failing to reform, which is code for ousting Ayu. He added, “If PDP cannot reform, then they cannot reform Nigeria.”
Ejes Gist Newspaper was unable to ascertain whether Governor Samuel Ortom was still with Wike in light of the fact that he had recently changed his attitude on Ayu, a member of his kinsman.
According to reports, Tinubu and Wike met in London on August 22. The London meeting’s specifics were not made public, although various APC leaders, including a former party official in charge of national welfare, Kabir Masari, said the meeting had something to do with 2023.
