Buhari who was at the newly constructed Kawo bridge executed by the El-Rufai administration, said ” there was an attempt to bomb me here…there was a market nearby .”….but his security escort were vigilant.
In Kaduna on Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari recalled with nostalgia how, while traveling to Katsina State in July 2014, he narrowly avoided being bombed near the Kawo bridge.
“There was an attempt to bomb me here,” Buhari said while visiting the newly constructed Kawo bridge, which was built by the El-Rufai administration.
“Nearby, there was a market.”
….but his security escort was on the lookout.
The Kawo bridge was a project that, according to many, had become a cynosure, attracting a large number of tourists to Kaduna since it was completed.
President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the ultra-modern sports and shopping complex at Murtala Square Kaduna during his visit to the city, and reaffirmed his intention to stay in Kaduna after leaving office.
The President praised the El-Rufai administration’s foresight and developmental strides while commissioning the project, remarking that a long-time visitor to Kaduna would struggle to recognize the city.
President Buhari, who had arrived in Kaduna the day before, was in Kafanchan, Southern Kaduna, where he praised the Governor for the numerous projects he had commissioned and thanked him for constructing good roads and other infrastructural projects in the state’s rural areas.
Buhari and his entourage, led by Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, were expected to remain in Zaria for the completion of the projects.
The President’s visit to Kaduna, where he has lived since his military retirement, was set to end on Friday.
