The day of the guest departure, he gave the Staff the sum of N105, 000.00 (One Hundred and Five Thousand Naira) as tips for the good time that he had at the hotel.

This, is not unusual in the hospitality business.  The Hotel did not lose any money neither was any alleged to have been stolen.

When Kenneth Gbagi got wind of what happened he summoned the staff to his office immediately and subjected them to torturous interrogations (in the presence of his armed mobile policemen) where he demanded that all the tips given to the staff must be returned.

He said the staff  are not entitled to tips, as all tips belong to him. Staff were not supposed to have monies in their accounts as long as they were working for him.

On Thursday, the 17th of September, 2020 he forcibly took the staff to the Hotel warehouse and later to his  (also at the Hotel’s Restaurant) in the presence and active assistance of the armed mobile policemen (paid by taxpayers) and at gunpoint ordered the staff to pull off their clothes.

The Staff   pleaded profusely for his  mercy but he showed them none. One of the Staff , Mrs. Precious Achibong, knelt down and cried for his mercy because she is a married woman (a fact which he is aware of) and no one except her husband was supposed to see her nakedness but the milk of mercy never came from him. With the threatening presence of the armed policemen who willingly did his bidding.  Kenneth Gbagi directed his son of 15 years old (a minor) Master Egba Gbagi, to film and take photos of the Staffs’ nakedness.

He further  summoned the other staff of the hotel to see the nakedness of the staff. It was gathered that the other staff were shocked at what he and his son were doing but still had to look at the shameful sight because they were afraid of him.

It was gathered that they also joined in taking snapshots. Kenneth Gbagi took every pride and dignity the staff had away from them. He affirmed that is the way thieves should be treated. He went further to became the Accuser, the Judge, and Executioner.

It was gathered that  the case of the married woman is even more pathetic. She was assigned to the Food and Beverage Department. Kenneth Gbagi alleged that there was a shortage of N1, 000.00 (One Thousand Naira) in her sales for the 18th of September, 2020 and demanded that she returned the money, notwithstanding the fact that she was not the staff directly responsible. But as the Supervisor she promised to return the N1, 000.00.

Report had it that  at gunpoint, Kenneth Gbagi forcibly collected their ATM cards and used the Hotel’s Point On Sale (POS) device to transfer all the monies in Staff’ bank accounts. He withdrew the sum of N111, 000.00 (One Hundred and Eleven Thousand Naira) from the account of Victor Ephraim on Friday, the 18th of September, 2020. Same time also he unlawfully withdrew the sum of N176, 500.00 (One Hundred and Seventy Six Thousand Five Hundred Naira) from the account of Gloria Oguzie. Kenneth Gbagi withdrew the sum of N5, 000.00 (Five Thousand Naira) from Okiemute Roseline Diaghwarhe which he claimed was what she “stole” from him. Precious Achibong under  duress, refunded the sum of N2, 000.00 even though the alleged shortage from her daily sale was N1,000.00 but Kenneth Gbagi still subjected her to this infamous show of bestiality.

A source said,  when Kenneth Gbagi noticed that the news of his infamous and bestial conducts had filtered out to the public and to stave off bad publicity, he quickly called the DPO of the Ebrumede Police Station, Uvwie Local Government to send officers to his hotel to arrest some “thieves”.

The Policemen came and arrested the staff, without any complaint first being made by Kenneth Gbagi or any member of his staff to the Police.

Ejes Gist Media gathered that the staff, at instance of Kenneth Gbagi were detained for 4 (four) days at the Ebrumede Police Station.

The staff  were eventually arraigned in court on frivolous charges of stealing the same actual amounts that he had unlawfully and at gunpoint withdrew from their accounts. T

He went further to  instructed his  son, Master Egba Gbagi to post the nude pictures of the Staff on the Hotel’s staff WhatsApp group and in the general social media.

Meanwhile the Former Minister for Education (State), Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi has been ordered to pay one billion nairas as damages for stripping four of his hotel workers naked over alleged theft

  1. Hopefully, this cause will be taken all the way by the barristers even if started as pro bono. The law must run its course and justice must be seen to have been well served. It would be in the interest of Gbaji to repent and settle out of court with full restitution and compensation. Failure in this regard may lead to a recourse to self-help or retributive justice. One day, an older dying man and his sickly drug addict son together with their wives sisters and daughters will be seen roaming about the street naked and everybody will know them and remember this matter very well. Karma will ensure it!
