Catechist abducted as terrorists attack Taraba Catholic church

Terrorists stormed the St. Agnes Catholic Church in the Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State on the evening of Sunday, August 14, and kidnapped a catechist.

According to Rev. Fr. Lawrence Awua, the Parish Priest of St. Agnes Parish, who spoke to Newsmen about the incident, the terrorists entered the church and began shooting at 9:58 p.m.

Awua said;

“I was in the room when the assailants came and started shooting erratically and hitting objects on my door,” the victim said.

“Since I did not reply to their message, they most likely believed that I was absent.

My catechist, who was in the church at the time, had heard what was going on in the Parish House and was making his way towards the house when he was taken.
