A popular Nigerian footballer has been shot dead.
A member of the Agbarho Task Force vigilante in Agbarho, Ughelli North council area of Delta state, shot and killed a popular local Nigerian footballer simply known as Ogaga.
According to reports, Ogaga, 25, was shot for trespassing into the Agbarho monarch’s palace while playing football with other young men near the palace.

Though the details of the incident are sketchy, it was learned that the ball was accidentally played into the palace grounds during the football match.
The victim was reportedly going to get the ball when the suspect shot him with a pump-action rifle.
Other reports, on the other hand, claim that the victim (a regular face at the palace) and the suspect had a verbal altercation prior to the heinous crime.
According to The Nation, a lingering kingship battle erupted in a protest by traditional chiefs of Agbarho Kingdom against the alleged imposition of a traditional ruler only two weeks ago.
However, it was unclear whether Friday’s murder was related to the kingship dispute.
DSP Bright Edafe, a spokesman for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed the incident but said there was no football match in the story.
“They all stay in the palace,” he explained. I believe they are aware of their own abilities. A ball is unlike anything else. They were in the vicinity of the palace and had a minor quarrel. “That’s what prompted the shooting,” Edafe explained.
He also stated that the suspect is being held by the police.
