The body was discovered dangling with a rope around his neck inside one of the hostel blocks.
According to sources within the hostel, the deceased locked himself in his room for days, sobbing over his inability to pay a new school fee regime instituted recently by the University Authority.
He was seen dangling with a rope around his neck when the door was broken, according to reports.
Mr Ken Chukwura, the Institution’s Chief Security Officer, responded by saying that the deceased’s roommates had been invited for further questioning while an investigation was underway.
He urged the students, however, to go about their business fearlessly because the situation was under control.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, a Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate, adding that investigations were ongoing.
Before the body was taken to the mortuary, a combined team of school security, Nigerian police, and the institution’s top principal officers were on the scene.
