The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi (11), has called on all concerned stakeholders to ensure that political leaders sign a peace pact against the use of youths for violence during the 2019 general election. Delivering an address during the annual lecture organised by the vocational training centre at the M.D. Yusuf Research and Documentation Centre, in Katsina, with the theme, “Youth: Security and National Development in Nigeria,’’ in commemoration of the Youth Day, Sanusi said the move would help the country’s democracy to mature.

He, however, lamented that the North was still lagging behind in Nigeria, while the youths needed for the development of the region must be taken care of. Also, he pointed out that many of the security challenges the country was facing were due to the non-involvement of the youths in the productive sector of the economy.
