Ibrahim Magu, the performing Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has urged Nigerian students to remain away from Cyber Crimes, popularly referred as ‘Yahoo Yahoo’.

Ibrahim made this statement on Wednesday, May the 15th, 2019, whereas he was delivering a lecture on the University of Ilorin on the risks of Internet fraud.

The EFCC boss who was represented by Head, Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences, Ilorin Zonal Office, Olamide Sadiq mentioned anybody caught for offences bordering on web fraud could be detained, prosecuted and jailed.

According to him, “in case you use photos that don't belong to you simply with intent to defraud somebody, it's impersonation. You have dedicated an offence that carries 5 years imprisonment.

“I am emphasising to you on the need to desist from cyber crimes. If you are found to be in possession of fraudulent documents, you have committed a criminal offence which has a great consequence.”The EFCC boss knowledgeable the students that the Commission has particular powers to trigger investigations into anybody or company physique, suspected to have participated in financial and monetary crimes.”
