Omoyele Sowore, former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, has accused key political figures of pushing Nigerians towards nationwide protests. In a post on his X account, Sowore claimed that President Bola Tinubu and several top officials are responsible for the growing unrest due to their alleged corruption and poor governance.

Sowore listed those he holds responsible for the current discontent:

  1. President Bola Tinubu: Alleged massive corruption, election rigging, and harmful economic policies since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
  2. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas: Criticized for leading ineffective legislative bodies.
  3. CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso: Accused of devaluing the Naira through poor financial management.
  4. IGP Kayode Egbetokun: Alleged to have reduced the police force to a corrupt institution.
  5. EFCC Chairman: Accused of allowing corruption to flourish by targeting low-level offenders while ignoring major financial criminals.
  6. NNPC GMD: Allegedly involved in a $3.8 billion subsidy scam.
  7. Chief of the Nigerian Army: Accused of collusion with bandits and terrorists.
  8. Chief of the Nigerian Navy: Allegedly involved with crude oil thieves.
  9. Comptroller General of Customs: Accused of aiding cross-border criminals and denying Nigeria billions in revenue.
  10. Judges: Alleged bribery to pervert justice.
  11. INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu: Criticized for organizing flawed elections that brought corrupt officials to power.
