The State Security Service apprehended the erring soldier with the help of members of a local vigilante group in Dankogi Park, Zuba.
According to security sources, the soldier usually hires his guns to kidnappers who hunt their victims in Abuja and its environs for N300,000.
The State Security Service has arrested a soldier assigned to the Muhammadu Buhari cantonment in Abuja’s Tungan-Maje neighbourhood for allegedly supplying guns to kidnappers in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the Daily Trust, the secret police revealed that the soldier whose name was withheld allegedly hires and sells guns to kidnappers operating in Abuja.
According to SSS sources, the soldier was apprehended as a result of a joint operation between secret police operatives and vigilante group members in Dankogi Park, Zuba.
According to the source, the soldier was apprehended last week after the leadership of the secret police in the FCT’s Gwagwalada area sought the assistance of the local office following a series of previous arms allegations against him.

According to the source, in his first transaction, the soldier hired out a gun for a kidnapping operation for N300,000.

The soldier’s investigation began after some kidnapped in SSS custody revealed his role in their activities.
“Then, in the second instance, they contacted him for another deal, and he demanded N200,000, which the kidnappers allegedly paid, but he failed to produce the gun,” the source continued.
“As a result, they contacted him for another deal to supply them with AK-47s to purchase for N3 million.”
“On the agreed-upon delivery day here in Zuba, we went to the agreed-upon location and took position.” He arrived in his car to present the arm, and that’s when we arrived and caught him with the gun well wrapped.”
Items recovered from the soldier
Following that, some of the items recovered from the soldier included an AK-47, a fully loaded magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition discovered inside one of the soldier’s car’s safe compartments.
“We drove him to our office, where we signed a document with the DSS and handed him over to them,” the source said.
Later, officers from the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja met with vigilantes in their Zuba office, taking statements on how the operation against the soldier was successful.
Following the SSS warning, clerics make a major move against Gumi, revealing what will put an end to banditry in the northwest.
Clerics in Nigeria had previously called for the arrest of Tukur Mamu, an ally of the detained terrorists’ negotiator.
The clerics urged the State Security Service (SSS) to investigate and apprehend Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
According to the clerics, Tukur Mamu’s arrest has brought relative peace to the state’s northwest region.

In a statement, the secret police also urged the public to refrain from making comments about Mamu’s arrest and detention.
According to the SSS, the service will not be diverted from its primary mission of people protection.
