General Idris  Dambazau was arrested on Sunday, according to a top official in the DSS’s Kano state command, after futile attempts to open the filling stations.

“It happened the day before yesterday.” “Under the guise of being the head of the Consumer Protection Council, he went and sealed seven filling stations, which is illegal under the Constitution,” the official said.

Dambazau was contacted, and it was learned that he did not inform the DPR, he said.

“No agency, organization, or ministry can seal a filling station unless the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) issues directives, and he did not receive any from security agencies,” the source continued.

According to the security source, Dambazau had been sealing shops in several markets throughout the metropolis.

“We tried to contact him, but he didn’t respond. He was apprehended this morning, and all of the gas stations have been opened. We have charged him with economic sabotage in violation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution.

“His act constitutes economic sabotage, and he will face charges in court tomorrow (Monday).”

In September 2021, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje appointed General Dambazau (Rtd) as the council’s MD.
