Nigerian Senate has Taken Final Decision on ruling nullifying Section 84(12) of Electoral Act

The Senate decided on Wednesday to appeal the Federal High Court of Umuahia’s decision to strike down section 84(12) of the Electoral Act.

“Urgent need to appeal judgement of the Federal High Court Umuahia on suit no.: FHC/UM/CS/26/2022 on Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act, 2022,” read the motion.

Senator George Sekibo (Rivers East) proposed the motion, which was co-sponsored by 80 other lawmakers.

Ejes Gist Newspaper had previously reported that a federal high court in Abia had asked AGF Abubakar Malami to immediately delegate Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act, 2022.
