The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has charged Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos and the APC’s presidential nominee, with trying to sway the results of its candidate in the just-concluded Osun state governorship election.

In a statement released on Friday, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba made the claim that Tinubu’s appeals to the “authorities in Abuja” to interfere in the election were turned down.

Ologunagba claims that “Asiwaju Tinubu’s humiliating rejection in Abuja, where he had purportedly hurried to in a desperate attempt to thwart the orderly conclusion of the Osun State Governorship election, is a clear evidence that the APC Presidential Candidate has been thoroughly deflated”.

“Our Party is aware of reports that doors in Abuja were barred against APC leaders, and that their frantic phone calls and corrupt promises to halt the Osun poll were rejected,” he continued.

Asiwaju’s ancestral State of Osun and the South West geopolitical zone, which ought to be his natural stronghold, outrightly rejected him and his APC in the July 16, 2022 Governorship election in Osun the State, the party further requested the APC candidate to withdraw from the presidential campaign.
