Reps demand that all checkpoints in Lagos, Abuja, and the Southeast be removed.
On Thursday, the House of Representatives directed the Inspector-General of Police and other security agency heads to dismantle all roadblocks between Lagos and Abuja and the Southeast.
This, according to the House, is to facilitate free flow of traffic and alleviate the pains and hardships experienced by motorists and other road users during the holiday season.

The lawmakers also demanded that all checkpoints at the Onitsha Head Bridge, which are causing heavy gridlock, be disbanded immediately.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been asked to deploy men and materials to ensure that traffic between Asaba and Onitsha flows freely.
The House, in adopting a motion by Obinna Chidoka, asked all security agencies to collaborate in the discharge of their responsibilities and avoid resource waste, as evidenced by the numerous checkpoints on roads, particularly those leading to and from the Southeast.
