A fire has engulfed a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parish in Alapere, Lagos.
On Sunday, a video posted to social media showed the church engulfed in flames, with many vehicles, including worshippers, believed to be trapped inside.
At the time of this writing, Ejes Gist Nigeria has yet to determine the cause of the fire or whether there have been any casualties.
The incident was reported by a member of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who did not want to be identified because he is not authorised to speak.
“Not that it just happened now,” the staffer said, “but the fire began in the morning and has since been put out.”
LASEMA spokesperson Nosa Okunbor, on the other hand, said he needed to confirm the incident.
“I’m waiting for confirmation, and once I get confirmation, I’ll make a statement,” he said.
The incident occurred when the RCCG was still grieving the death of Dare Adeboye, the son of the church’s general overseer.
