Comrade Frank Ufouma Esanubi

Our attention has been drawn to a press release of May 23rd, 2018 by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of Delta state and signed by one Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, the Publicity Secretary. If anything was achieved by the said press release, it is the self-indictment of the PDP-led state government in the areas of misplaced priorities and culpable failure to add value to millions of Deltans by way of creating an enabling environment for them to thrive and live decently by, amongst other things, creating real jobs for the teeming youths of Delta state.

Comrade , who the writer variously described as an upstart, an opportunist, a lazy man, a man with little education, a misguided element and very inconsequential is poised to be the face of the revolution that will deliver the people of Delta state from the shackles of the PDP maladministration in 2019. To state that Comrade Esanubi’s sole qualification for contesting for the governorship of Delta State is because he currently serves as the Deputy President of PENGASSAN is a display of total lack of understanding of the provisions of the Nigerian constitution on the qualifications for becoming the governor of a state.

To become the governor of a state in Nigeria, the person must be a citizen of Nigeria by birth, must have attained the age of thirty-five years, must be a member of a political party and that political party must have sponsored him; and must also be educated to at least the School certificate level or its equivalent. Comrade Esanubi has met these requirements, and more. He is a forty-year old Deltan and member of the Action Democratic Party (ADP). He possesses two bachelor’s degrees and two master’s degrees. Additionally, he is a fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the United Kingdom and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, all top professional institutes guiding the practice of Accounting and Taxation. With over 15 years work experience in top notch companies both within and outside Nigeria, he is a role model to our youths and a testament to the visions of our founding fathers when they fought for the creation of Delta State.

However, the issue at stake which is of great concern to Comrade Esanubi is how to reverse the deplorable standard of living which the people of Delta State have been subjected to by successive PDP administrations. It is pathetic that the PDP confirmed that it sat idly and watched while the Asaba Textile Mill was being shut down due to a debt burden of =N=500 million and many Deltans lost their means of livelihood as a result. Could the government not have provided a bail out loan to the firm and thus kept it afloat? That is what a responsible government would do. An irresponsible one will “siddon look”! President Obama showed the wisdom in this when he bailed out the car manufacturers and banks in the United States rather than allowing them to collapse and lay off workers.

We await their explanation on how Eternit Limited also closed shop in Sapele and relocated to Enugu in addition to the role the government played when Shell relocated its main administrative office from Warri. There are many other factories and companies which have collapsed under the watch of the PDP which is now celebrating the appointment of 2,384 political aides as job creation. Can they give a perfect example of any forward looking state in Nigeria or around the world where political appointments of this size have grown the economy of the state?

Whereas these political aides have been paid as and when due monthly; many civil servants in the state especially primary school teachers and local government employees are yet to receive a kobo for almost a year now. Our senior citizens who have devoted the best part of their lives in service to the state are yet to be paid their retirement gratuity and pension for up to five years since their retirement. On the other hand, in his capacity as Deputy President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Esanubi has stood his grounds on behalf of Nigerian workers and retirees. These are the same people that the PDP referred to as “cohorts” of Comrade Esanubi after making sure that every human dignity left in our compatriots have been removed by denying them their legitimate earnings. By March 2nd, 2019, the PDP shall realize that the civil servants, retirees, traders, farmers and jobless youths of Delta state far outnumber their 2,384 political appointees.

Finally, Comrade Esanubi holds His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa in high esteem as he currently occupies the exalted office of the governor of Delta state. Dr. Okowa who started his political sojourn in his 30’s has served the people of Delta state to the best of his ability as a councillor, local government chairman, commissioner, secretary to the state government, senator and finally governor and now deserves to be elevated to the status of an elder stateman by taking a well-deserved rest and political retirement. His wealth of experience shall continue to be tapped upon when Comrade Esanubi assumes office as the next governor of the state on May 29th, 2019.

Action Democratic Party (ADP) is the credible alternative and that is why the people of Delta State are coming out in their numbers to embrace it. The foundation of the party is built on enshrining an all-inclusive government, democratic empowerment of women and youths and enshrining party discipline. As for the vacancy in Government House, March 2nd, 2019 shall tell when the people of Delta state shall troop out en masse to decide.

Long live ADP!
Long live Delta State!!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
