RE : TEARS FLOW FREELY IN URHOBO NATION OVER AGEGE’S—–”
The writer of those two pieces of write ups, Fred Lartimor and the few
inconsequential Urhobos of his mindset who are in the court of infamy are known turncoats whose vituperations should be consigned to the trashcan. It is not in our nature to respond to inanities from blinded partisanship, however, we shall break with protocol and tradition by according a didactic response to the write up to purge the writer of his conceitedness.
Let it be known that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as a person properly groomed in Urhobo culture and philosophy has not betrayed the cherished Urhobo values in all his actions and especially on the subject of unconstitutional suspension and attendant assertion of his right to represent Urhobos who mandated him to be their representative .His action is in sync with the philosophy of Urhobo people which says that a non conformist or at worse a rascally child is preferred to a child infected with imbecility and or idiocy. So senator Ovie is living the philosophy of the urhobo in the Senate and for which more than 95 percent of urhobo people on shore and offshore commend him.
Note his action on the suspension saga is in accord with globally accepted reasons justifying declaration of war by nations. When the integrity of one nation is breached by another with impunity , international laws recognise the right of the aggrieved nation to push back and protect her territorial integrity even if it result in a war. That is a right which the most civilised nations formulating global laws have not denied themselves. What senator Ovie did is even short of declaration of war recognized as a means of preserving cherished rights.
A writer who unconsciously cherrypicks from a trove of values of a people is not a balanced personality. The reason why chief James Onanefe Ibori is not despised by urhobo people is because of urhobo philosophy which abhors double jeopardy. The Urhobos teach that you spank a child with one hand and embrace him with another because it is in our nature to give people opportunity to realize their best God given potentials inspite of whatever mistake they make on the journey in ife. Even Christianity teaches same when we are counselled neither to judge nor condemn others. The fallibility of every mortal recommend restraint in evaluating the action of others as demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he challenged any in an audience he was addressing who has not sinned to cast the first stone. None cast a stone because there is none without imperfections.
So it is sheer hypocrisy for the writer to accord greatness to Chief James Onanefe Ibori whose actions have been declared as crime and seek to deny the greatness / leadership of Senator Ovie whose actions are acclaimed as historic even outside Urhoboland.
We counsel the writer and the few in that mindset to reflect more on issues affecting Urhobo before going public With ill-informed write ups
No slanted write up can take away the niche which Senator Ovie has carved for himself and the urhobo people as can be gleaned from the intellectual discourse generated by the saga.
