Presidency is Tough, Am Ready to Go Now
According to President Muhammadu Buhari, his seven years in office “have been tough,” and he will be “ready to retire” in 2023.
At a gathering with lawmakers, key party officials, and some APC governors on Monday at his home in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari made this statement.
In order to support the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima APC ticket, nine APC governors traveled to Buhari.
Buhari addressed the governors, “I wish the best for the person coming after me.”
I can’t wait to leave. I can attest that it hasn’t been easy. The fact that people recognize the personal sacrifices we have been making, I thank God, he continued.
Along with the host governor, Aminu Masari, the governors were led by Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi state, the leader of the Progressives Governor’s Forum.
The remaining governors are Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Abubakar Bello of Niger, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Simon Lalong of Plateau, and Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna).
