Rafa Benitez has been fired as manager of Everton Football Club.
After only six months on the job, the Spaniard was relieved of his duties after leading the club to a series of defeats, including a 2-1 loss to Norwich on Saturday.
The defeat to Norwich at the end of the season proved to be the final straw.
Last summer, the 61-year-old took over from Carlo Ancelotti and began the season with five wins in his first eight games in all competitions.
Premier League Manager
The Toffees, on the other hand, have only won one of their last 12 Premier League games.
“Everton Football Club can confirm Rafael Benitez’s departure as first-team manager,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
Benitez has left Everton with immediate effect after joining the club in June 2021. In due course, an update on a permanent replacement will be provided.
