Ugandan Minister Gunned Down By Bodyguard

 

Colonel Charles Okello Engola, Uganda’s Minister of State for Labour, Employment, and Industrial Relations, was shot and killed by one of his bodyguards on Tuesday.

 

Fred Enanga, a spokesman for the Ugandan police, stated that the incident occurred as the deceased was entering his vehicle to go to work.

“One of the minister’s bodyguards opened fire and fired multiple shots from close range. “The shooter then fled to the Kyanja Ring Road shopping centre, where he entered a salon and shot himself,” Enanga explained.

The police spokesman stated that investigations had begun and added, “We have dispatched crime scene experts who will use cutting-edge technology to determine the exact motive for the murder.”

According to a report, eyewitnesses said the soldier complained about unpaid wages and mistreatment before he shot himself.

 

Meanwhile, The Gombe state faction of the All Progressives Congress has expelled Senator Bulus Amos and Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency member Yunusa Abubakar for alleged anti-party activities during the 2023 elections.

 

Amos, vice chairman of the Niger Delta Committee, represents the senatorial district of Gombe South in the state of Gombe.
