During his Friday sermon, the Imam told worshippers that Buhari met a united Nigeria but allowed bandits to rule a portion of the country.

“Go and tell the president that some people in his are issuing threats to local communities, demanding that they pay a certain amount of money or face attack,” he said.

 

“And they’d collect the money and announce on the BBC that they (the bandits) would be paid this Friday [to avoid attack].”

“Tell the president that there is a country to which we owe allegiance and another country to which we are unknown and which is ruled by bandits.

“Either the president should return the country to its original state as a single nation, or he should step down.

“This is the message,” says the narrator. This is something I’m saying in a public forum that’s being live-streamed for all to see. I accept responsibility for my words and am prepared to face whatever consequences come as a result of preaching Nigerian peace and unity.

“Mr President, we don’t want to hear about people being killed under your watch. We don’t want to hear about our soldiers being attacked at their base because of their cowardice.

“In a video, you claimed that Nigerian soldiers had the patriotism, training, and discipline to combat all forms of criminality in the country. You stated that if elected, you would provide them with the necessary support to combat insurgency promptly.

 

“A promise made is a promise kept, Your Excellency. If you don’t have any advisers to remind you of this, we’ll do it for you. If you are willing, we are praying to God to assist you in fulfilling this promise.”
