Popular APC Chieftain resigns over Tinubu’s ‘Muslim-Muslim’ Ticket
Daniel Bwala, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), resigned from the party over the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate for the presidency in 2023.
The development has brought resentment among the ruling party’s members, some of whom have publicly expressed their disapproval of the “Muslim-Muslim” Ticket.
Bwala announced his resignation from the party on Twitter on Sunday night and added that “efforts” should be directed at unifying the nation.
“Tonight I formally resigned from @OfficialAPCNg on beliefs and conviction that I hold so dear,” he wrote in a tweet.
The focus of our efforts and energies at this point in our country’s history should be on bringing the people together.
Some people have applauded Tinubu for picking Shettima to be his vice. Festus Keyamo, a minister and high-ranking member of the party, called the decision “sensible” and said Shettima was a “good pick.”
In addition, Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s presidential candidate, praised Tinubu for the action and said that he would be willing to back the Lagos politician in becoming the country’s next leader.
