On Saturday morning, the incident caused human and vehicular traffic on the popular Old Enugu road in the capital city.

According to one of the supporters, Steve Ugama, aside from dispersing and tear-gassing the supporters, the police have arrested about five of his colleagues.

“This is inhumane and undemocratic,” he said. We gathered here this morning for our peaceful March when the police arrived and began tear-gassing us and arresting our people.

“They said we couldn’t hold the march because Governor David Umahi had asked them to stop us. Four of our coworkers have been arrested. We require assistance here.”
