A Police Officer and Six others have been shot dead in a gun battle.
Suspected Gunmen invaded Omuma, the hometown of Imo state Governor Hope Uzodinma, on Monday night.
The police engaged the attackers in a gunfight, killing six of them in the process.

The Divisional Police Officer of Omuma Police Division, Fatmann Dooiyor, a Chief Superintendent of Police, was killed in the attack in the state’s Oru East Local Government Area.
After the thwarted attack, authorities seized three vehicles and detained eleven more individuals.
The development was confirmed by Michael Abattam, the Imo state police spokesperson, who stated that tactical units of the command Swifty ambushed the robbers.
According to the Area Commander of Omuma Area Command, ACP Benjamin Abang, who stated that after receiving information that Gunmen were moving in convoy into Omuma Town, he immediately alerted the command’s ever-active tactical teams, who swung into action, ambushed and launched a surprise attack on the Gunmen’ convoy, neutralising six of the Gunmen.
“Unfortunately, CSP Fatmann Dooiyor, the Divisional Police Officer, paid the ultimate price. The criminals abandoned three cars at the station, including two Toyota Highlander SUV vehicles with registration numbers Abia MBL 517 AT and LAGOS, JJJ 984 EL, and a milk colour unregistered Lexus Jeep.
“At the moment, the command’s tactical teams and Special Forces, led by ACP Evans E.Shem, are combing the bush for prospective bandit capture.
