The Senate’s ultimatum to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the country’s pervasive insecurity has received support from members of the House of Representatives who were elected on the platform.

Recall that the senators gave Buhari a six-week deadline to address the nation’s security concerns or face impeachment proceedings.

Speaking at a joint meeting on Thursday, July 28, PDP legislators claimed the status of the nation was terrible and gave the president six to eight weeks to address the issues facing the nation or face being impeached.

Ndudi Elumelu, the minority leader in the House of Representatives, gave the notice on Thursday following a meeting of the PDP Caucus of the National Assembly at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Over 20 lawmakers attended the meeting, which was presided over by Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda (PDP, FCT).

After the parliamentarians met behind closed doors, Mr. Elumelu gave a press briefing on the decision made.

He said that if the nation’s general insecurity is not addressed, House members will also file a formal impeachment complaint against the president.
