Governor Wike and Umahi have met in Rivers State Amidst rising PDP Crisis
On Monday, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike will begin the inauguration of some projects, but it is said that he has declined to invite significant members of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP presidential aspirant for the 2023 election met with Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State on Sunday.
In order to have “a partisan discussion,” Umahi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), visited Wike in Port Harcourt.
Wike allegedly extended unusual invitations to the APC leaders with regard to some projects completed by his administration, for which official commissioning will begin today (Monday).
While the former governor of Sokoto State will be in the state on Tuesday to officially open the dualized Ogbum-Nu-Abali Eastern Bypass, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been invited to officially open the Orochiri-Worukwo flyover.
Among those invited are Olusegun Mimiko, a former governor of Ondo State, who will oversee the dualization of Azikiwe Illoabuchi Road, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, who will open the House of Assembly quarters on Friday.
Top PDP figures are said to be uneasy about this development because they don’t understand why Wike is taking the course he has.
To resolve their differences, Wike met with PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar last week.
They agreed to settle their differences within a week during their private, face-to-face meeting at Prof. Jerry Gana’s home, who is a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT).
