PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus joins APC ?
Prince Kassim Afegbua, a former Commissioner of Information in Edo state, has revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, may soon defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Afegbua stated this while demanding that the PDP Chairman be fired immediately, and that two governors from the North East and the South East have finalised plans to join the APC.
While reacting to the recent defections of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi of Delta North Senatorial District and Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle from the PDP to the APC, the opposition party chieftain remarked.
“Sheer arrogance of power in Delta state has led to Senator Nwaoboshi’s defection to the ruling APC, leaving the PDP with a Senator representing Delta on its platform,” the former Commissioner stated in a statement on Sunday.
“To add insult to injury, the defection of Zamfara state Governor Bello Mutawallen to the All Progressives Congress (APC) puts an already terrible scenario in risk.
“Like a lost sheep in the desert, the Uche Secondus leadership appears helpless and dithering.
“I have every reason to believe there is a massive conspiracy between Uche Secondus’ NWC and the APC’s Caretakers Committee to keep quiet while the opposition is robbed by defection.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Uche Secondus defected to the APC by tomorrow for obvious reasons.
“As I write this, another PDP governor from the South-East is considering leaving the party. Another PDP governor from the North-East is considering resigning if the correct leadership is not in place to reverse the trend. Now is the time to save PDP before it’s too late.
“Now, now, and now is the time to remove Uche Secondus as President. Postponing the evil day will simply exacerbate the current crisis of confidence that is raging through the party’s structures…”
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Cross River counterpart, Prof. Ben Ayade, are two more major PDP figures who have left the party.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership abilities, according to Ayade, were the driving force for his decision to leave the PDP.
The Governor also said that he realised that his state needed to be in sync with the party at the centre.
Also during his defection in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, Umahi, who is the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, said that the state was now 99.9 per cent APC.
He said the remaining 0.1 percent were members of the PDP, who according to him, would as a matter of time, join him in the APC.
