Two PDP presidential aspirants have been disqualified
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has disqualified two of the 17 presidential aspirants on its platform.
The N40 million each that the two disqualified hopefuls paid for the expression of interest and nomination forms will be forfeited.
Ejes Gist Newspaper reports that Senator David Mark, the chairman of the presidential screening committee, announced the disqualification of the two presidential aspirants on Friday evening.
Mark, on the other hand, turned down a request from Nigerian journalists to divulge the names of the disqualified candidates and the reason(s) for their disqualification.
When asked if the screening committee recommended that the party reimburse the aspirants’ N80 million nomination fees, Mark replied, “Why should the party refund the money?”
