Recall that the PDP had fixed its forms for presidential nomination and expressions of interest for the following positions: governorship- N40 million, Senate N3.5 million, House of Representatives N2.5 million, and House of Assembly N600, 000

According to information obtained, a faction within the party is attempting to bribe each member of the National Working Committee (NWC) with N28 million in order to conceal the enormous sum of money and prevent a further crisis within the organisation.

However, some NWC members, who rejected the bribe, are demanding accountability and information about how the money went from over N10 billion to N1 billion.

The Rivers State governor’s disgruntled faction demanded accountability to put more pressure on Ayu to resign.

It was reported that PDP NWC members were shocked to find that former vice president Atiku Abubakar allegedly gave the party N1 billion prior to the presidential primary.

Recall that Governor Wike asserted in a media interview on Friday that the embattled PDP National chairman had recieved N1 billion from a candidate for president prior to the PDP primary and had failed to return it to the party.

“Ahead of our campaign, all is still not well in the party because some NWC members have raised concerns over what had happened to the N10 billion nomination fees,” a high-ranking source said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

“They are demanding that the party take immediate responsibility. They were upset, in my opinion, since word got out that the money collected had dropped from roughly N10 billion to N1 billion.

“The difficulty in the party has been exacerbated by Governor Wike’s announcement of a N1 billion gift to the party before the PDP Presidential primaries, when several NWC members and stakeholders were just learning about it.

“The resentment is growing, and Wike’s team is already taking advantage of the circumstance to demand accountability and plan Ayu’s departure.

“I can let you know that the gathering is a lit match. Some forces wished to confuse people by citing accountability as justification. We are aware that Ayu has frequently told party officials that he will be transparent and accountable.
