The Federal Ministry of Education has ordered the immediate closure of one of its colleges, the Federal Government College Kwali, located in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Following an attack on a nearby community, college students have been removed from their dorms.
Parents reportedly arrived at the school on Monday morning to pick up their kids from the College in Sheda village.
Malam Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, is reported to have given the order in the wee hours of Monday morning, stating that the closure was required due to a security breach on Sheda and Lambata Villages, in the vicinity of Kwali Area Council, which also threatened FGC Kwali.
Ben. Bem Goong, Director of Press and Public Relations, quoted the Minister as saying that the situation was saved by the security agencies’ quick action in a statement released on Monday in Abuja.
Additionally, Adamu ordered that plans be made for final-year students to finish their NECO exams.
In order to prevent any security breaches in their schools, the Minister has also instructed Principals of Unity Colleges across the nation to coordinate with the security agencies operating within their respective regions.
