Panic As Police uncover another child trafficking syndicate in Anambra (photos)


A further child trafficking syndicate in the state has been discovered by the police in Anambra state.

A statement released by State Police Command spokesman Haruna Mohammed said on Tuesday, January 26, at approximately 7 a.m., police officers attached to the SIB and Area Command, Oraifite and coordinated by Area Commander, ACP Afolabi Wilfred, raided the home of one Melvina Uju Uba, located opposite Nnamdi Azikiwe Orthopedic Teaching Hospital Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State.

After reliable information that teenage girls were being impregnated and the babies were sold out by human traffickers, Haruna said the place was raided. He said that five newborn babies and three other children were rescued during the operation.

He added that the children rescued will be handed over for proper treatment to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Children’s and Women’s Affairs, while attempts are being stepped up to arrest other accomplices to bring them to justice.
